Why electricians pick Zappy over Elec-Mate

Less than half the price

Zappy Pro is £7.99 a month and no VAT is added. Elec-Mate's Electrician plan is £19.99 a month, or £199.99 a year, on the App Store.

A free plan, not a trial

2 certificates, 5 quotes and 5 invoices a month, free for good, no card. Elec-Mate starts with a 7-day trial that takes a card.

The board fills the schedule

Photograph the board and Zappy drafts the circuit schedule. Wrote the readings on paper? Scan the sheet. Max Zs is filled in from Table 41.3.

Built for getting paid

Quotes turn into invoices, clients pay by card into your own Stripe account, and deposits and part payments are tracked against the job.

Elec-Mate alternative: questions electricians ask

What's a good alternative to Elec-Mate?

If you mainly use Elec-Mate for certificates, quotes and invoices, Zappy covers those for £7.99 a month, with a free plan to start. If you use its training, calculators or RAMS, Zappy doesn't have them.

Is there a cheaper app like Elecmate?

Yes. Zappy Pro is £7.99 a month and no VAT is added. Elec-Mate's Electrician plan is £19.99 a month or £199.99 a year on the App Store. Its own pages also say "from £6.99", which matches its Apprentice plan. Zappy also has a free plan: 2 certificates, 5 quotes and 5 invoices a month.

Can I move my certificates from Elec-Mate to Zappy?

Not automatically. Zappy doesn't import certificates from other apps. The simplest way is to finish open jobs where you started them and do new jobs in Zappy. Keep the PDFs you have already issued for your records.

Does Zappy have training or calculators?

No. Zappy has no training videos, AM2 prep or calculator library. On a certificate it fills in Max Zs for you, but if you want a study tool or calculators, Elec-Mate has both.

Does Zappy work offline?

Not fully. Zappy saves drafts on your device when there's no signal and syncs them later. Elec-Mate says you can complete whole certificates with no signal.

Which certificates does each app do?

Zappy: EICR, EIC, Minor Works, PAT, EV charger, fire alarm, emergency lighting and danger notification. Elec-Mate names EICR, EIC, Minor Works, fire alarm, emergency lighting, solar PV, EV charging, battery storage and PAT.

Where do these facts come from?

From each company's own pages and Elec-Mate's App Store listing, checked on 20 October 2026. The links are in the sources list on this page. Prices and features change, so check Elec-Mate's site before you decide. If something here is wrong, email support@zappyapp.co.uk and we'll correct it.
