Frequently asked questions

What is Zappy?

Zappy is a privacy-first marketplace that connects homeowners with verified local electricians, starting in South Yorkshire (Sheffield, Doncaster, Rotherham and Barnsley). You describe your job, and up to 3 electricians send you a price estimate. Electricians only see your postcode area, never your full address. You compare the estimates, chat to the electricians, and choose the one you want. It's free for homeowners.

How do estimates work?

Once your job is live, local electricians can send you a price estimate. This is their best assessment of the cost based on your description and photos. It isn't binding: the final price is usually confirmed after a site visit. We'll notify you each time a new estimate arrives, and each one opens a chat with that electrician.

What is FairPrice?

FairPrice is a free AI price check for the estimates on your job. Once you have at least one estimate, open your job and tap "FairPrice Check". In a few seconds you'll see: A verdict, such as "This quote looks fair". The typical low, market and high price for this job, with a gauge showing where each estimate sits. What drives the cost of this kind of job. A short note on each estimate and a couple of things worth considering. How confident FairPrice is, and why.

How does Zappy protect my privacy?

Your job only ever shows your postcode area (for example "S11"), never your full address. You decide whether electricians can see your phone number. Your full address is only shared with the one electrician you choose, after you choose them. We also remove phone numbers typed into job descriptions, so your number can't slip out by accident.

Why do I only get up to 3 estimates?

Every job on Zappy is capped at 3 estimates. You get a short, manageable list to compare instead of your phone ringing off the hook. Electricians get a genuine 1-in-3 chance of winning the work, so they put real effort into each estimate.

How do leads work?

Jobs posted by homeowners in your coverage areas appear under Find Work. Each lead shows the job type, the description, photos, the postcode area (never the full postcode) and how many quote slots are filled, for example "1/3". Pick the ones that suit you and send a quote.

What is Zappy Pro?

Zappy Pro is the paid plan for running your business on Zappy, at £7.99 a month. On top of everything in Free, it adds: Unlimited quotes, invoices and certificates. Unlimited AI, subject to fair use. Automations that chase unpaid invoices, follow up quotes, request reviews and remind clients about renewals. Appointment texts and emails to your clients, with 100 texts a month included. Accounting sync with Xero and QuickBooks. No "Made with Zappy" badge on your documents.

What is JobScope?

JobScope is an AI brief for a lead, built from the homeowner's description and photos. Open a lead and tap JobScope to get: A plain-English job summary and how complex it is. Estimated time on site. A price guide with a breakdown, including materials and fittings. The likely scope, watch-outs and questions to ask the homeowner. A quote starter. Tap "Quote from JobScope" to begin your quote from it. JobScope is in beta and available to verified electricians on open leads that still have a slot free.

When are Zapps refunded?

Zapps spent on a quote aren't normally refundable, but to keep things fair we refund them automatically on Privacy leads in two cases: Unviewed quote: the homeowner hasn't viewed your quote within 5 days of you sending it. Unresponsive homeowner: the homeowner stops responding for 7 days after quotes were sent, and the job expires without an outcome. Refunds are paid back as Zapps, not cash. No refund is due if the homeowner viewed your quote and chose someone else, or if you withdraw your quote. Standard leads aren't covered, because you get the homeowner's number as soon as you quote. Think something's gone wrong? Contact support with the job reference and we'll take a look. The full rules are in section 19 of our Terms.

What are Zapps?

Zapps are the credits you spend to send quotes on homeowners' jobs. Each job category costs a different number of Zapps, based on the typical value of the work, and you always see the cost before you send. There's no subscription for finding work: you only spend Zapps when you choose to quote.
